Neshaminy Mall
The Neshaminy Mall is located in Bensalem, east from downtown Philadelphia, off some very important roads like Route 1, Pennsylvania Turnpike, and I-95. This fully-enclosed mall is owned by General Growth Properties and it was built in 1968. It was renovated and expanded several times and now it covers 1,020,000 square feet of retail space on a single level.
The mall is anchored by Macy's, Sears and Boscov’s. There are over 120 shops and services in this mall, including The Gap, Aeropostale, American Eagle, Victoria's Secret, Bath & Body Works etc. There are 7 full-service restaurants in this mall along with several order-at-the-counter eateries in the food court. The mall is open from 10:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on weekdays, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and from 11:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.
The malls family friendly amenities include family restrooms and the possibility to rent strollers. Parking is free but there are no valet parking services available. The mall is considered to be highly accessible for people from a wide range of income levels. Unfortunately, the mall has lost its popularity with time, due to the development of other shopping destinations.
Those who don’t want to shop can watch a movie in the stadium-seating 24-screen AMC Theatre (the largest in Pennsylvania) or visit the area. There are several attractions near Neshaminy Mall, such as Rosedale Memorial Park and the Philadelphia Park Racetrack.
Security records say that a man attacked a woman working in the mall with a knife. She wasn’t hurt in the incident, as she managed to escape. In 2006 a 14-year old girl was kidnapped from the premises of the mall.
